LISTEN TO MY STORY

Hey look its me! My name is Rob Reed and I am a designer and aspiring video game developer. I have a great deal of interests, most of which are related to some form of academia. I tend to let the form of my designs flow from a mixture of creative thinking, science, mathematics, psychology, and a little bit of insanity.

I attended Northwestern Michigan College for graphic design from 2012 through 2014. During my time there I started work at the student run newspaper, White Pine Press (WPP) as a designer. After my first two semesters there I climbed up the ladder into the Production Manager position, gaining both responsibilities and freedoms over all aspects of the newspapers' design.

WHOA. YOU'RE STILL HERE?

My manifesto

Well, since you've made it this far down I'll tell you a bit more about myself.

My transition into management at WPP was no accident. I've been a manager before in previous jobs. Additionally, I was a part of my family's business.

What is that family business? It's an optomotry practice. So I also happen to know a lot about how eyes work, as well as how light works and how we as humans percieve light. This also applies to how I decide what my designs need to look like, and helps me to keep in mind the importance of legible font sizes.

You want even more?

My original area of study wasn't in design. Not even remotely!

I actually started my college career off in psychology. It has always been a passion of mine and continues to be a major aspect of my life to this day. I find my knowledge of the human psyche to be extremely useful in relation to design as it allows me to better understand and diagnose who my target audience is, what they might be interested in, and why they're interested in those things.

I find ways to incorporate all of my interests and experiences into my work. I wouldn't want to be wasteful!
